Our Story

Trygons S.A. is a composites manufacturer based in the Keratea Industrial Park, Attica. We build carbon-fibre and fibreglass boats using a hollow single-shot (monocoque) infusion technique — one process, one mould, one structure, rather than pieces built separately and joined afterward. The boats are the most visible result of that capability; the capability itself is broader.

The company describes its own approach as "out-of-the-box thinking" and a "one-client-per-sector" principle — working with a single client in a given industry at a time, rather than supplying competitors from the same production line.

Verifiable records

Composite engineering claims are easy to make and hard to prove. These are backed by specific, dated results a competitor could not simply repeat with different materials:

  • September 2013 — an EcoRunner crossed the Aegean from Cape Sounio to Santorini on a standard outboard, burning 0.23 litres of fuel per nautical mile: less than half the fuel of the previous record and, on that basis, the lightest commercial boat built to that point.
  • June 2007, Spetses — Herbert Nitsch set a freediving world record of 214 metres on a single breath, 30 metres deeper than the record it broke. Trygons designed and built the diving sled and safety system used for the dive.
  • A 14-metre full carbon-fibre RIB, built as a single-shot infusion: a complete boat at roughly one tonne — 30% lighter than the same hull built by resin infusion in polyester, and 65% lighter than the same hull hand-laid up.

Composite engineering beyond boats

The same infusion technique has been applied outside marine work, on projects that share nothing but the material and the process:

  • A full carbon-fibre ankle-foot orthosis with an integrated spring feature.
  • A carbon-fibre hand-luggage filming studio weighing 1.4 kg.
  • Single-piece full carbon-fibre sunglasses — genuinely carbon-fibre construction, not a carbon-look finish, and the first of their kind.

Research & development

Trygons is a partner in an EU Horizon 2020 R&D project portfolio spanning several programmes — L4MS, StairwAI, Change2Twin, RESIST, Kyklos 4.0, Innobuyer, Gemstone, and PROSPECTS 5.0. The Innovation Hub page covers this work in full.
